How to extend registration in Belarus
In 99% of cases, people come to Belarus via one of the following routes:
- Visa-free entry (for 38 countries)
- Electronic visa (for 67 countries)
- Visitor visa (with an invitation from a Belarusian citizen)
- Business visa (with an invitation from a Belarusian legal entity)
- Work visa (with an employment contract and work invitation)
In all cases, it is POSSIBLE to extend your stay in Belarus. To do it, use the website «E-Pasluga» and after choosing your option, submit an application to extend your stay.
The conditions of your stay will vary in different cases:
- If you arrived in Belarus visa-free, you can register online or through the police department.
- If you have a visitor visa, an extension can only be obtained with an application from an individual who is a Belarusian citizen.
- If you have a business visa, an extension is 99% impossible. You must leave the country and, after obtaining new visa for business purposes, return to Belarus.
- A work visa can be extended without any problem if you are currently employed and will continue to work at the same place for the same legal entity during the renewal.
Important Notes
A free live consultation is available at any OGIM office (Migration Department).
Office Working Days: Please note that the Citizenship and Migration Departments’ days off are Sunday and Monday. If your registration expires on these days, submit your application in advance, on Saturday.
Result: The decision will be available in your personal account on the E-Pasluga portal.
Special Case: Foreigners with diplomatic passports must do a separate procedure through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
If you plan to stay in the country for a longer period than the temporary stay allows, you may consider obtaining a temporary residence permit.

What does the legalization of documents of foreign citizens mean
What does legalization of documents for foreign citizens (migrants) in Belarus mean?
Let’s divide this question into two subtypes: legalization of foreigners for the purpose of WORK, and all other purposes.
If a person came to Belarus NOT to work, but for another purpose, document legalization is not required. Registration on the website «E-Pasluga» within 10 days of arrival is enough.
If a person came to work, then read below.
The legalization process is a mandatory step in hiring a foreign citizen.
Let’s describe the steps for legalizing a foreign worker’s documents.
The first step is preparing documents for submission to the OGIM (Migration Department) to obtain a temporary residence permit (TRP).
To register with the OGIM, you will need:
1. The foreigner’s original passport (a notarized translation is required)
2. An employment contract in two languages (Russian and English)
3. A lease agreement for the apartment (house/premise) where the foreigner will live
4. An application for temporary residence
5. An application from the employer
Travel voucher for foreigners
Tourist Voucher for foreigners to Belarus
If you don’t hold a passport from the following countries, which are eligible for visa-free entry to Belarus:
Citizens of: Austria, Andorra, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Vatican, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, North Macedonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, France, Germany, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, and Estonia (including stateless persons permanently residing in Estonia), Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia,
then you will need a tourist voucher to visit Belarus for tourism purposes and, based on this, obtain a visa before arrival.
A tourist voucher is a request from a travel agency, issued independently by the agency and given to the foreign citizen in original or scanned form (depending on the requirements of the Belarusian consulate in the foreigner’s country of residence).
A tourist voucher is typically valid for no more than 30 days. In addition to the voucher, the travel agency also makes a hotel reservation in Belarus for the entire duration of the foreigner’s intended stay.
A photo of the tourist voucher is attached below.
(POST A PHOTO OF THE VOUCHER HERE)
The cost of a tourist voucher from our company starts at $250. Production time is 2 business days.
Duration of the engagement in Belarus for foreign countries
Validity period and sample invitation to Belarus for foreigners
There are two types of work invitations in Belarus:
1. Special invitation (officially called: Special Permit for foreigners to engage in labor activity)
2. Regular invitation (officially called: Application)
We attach sample invitations for work in Belarus.
(Two photographs must be included here – one of the Special Permit and one of the Regular Permit, which I have included in the folder.)
The special permit is valid for one year. The employer has the right to set the start date of the invitation.
A special invitation contains:
1. Name of the company
2. Serial number
3. Full name of the foreign national and passport number of the person being invited in Russian language
4. A special permit is issued on a special «strict accountability» form
5. A special permit has an «increased» visa approval rate, as the decision is made at the UGIM level (Office of Citizenship and Migration)
Important: A special permit is only issued for those professions that are not on the special list of professions for which a special permit is NOT REQUIRED. You can find the list at this link.
The second type of invitation for a foreign citizen to work in Belarus: an employer’s application.
The validity period of the application is from 1 to 3 months.
An application can only be issued for those professions for which it is permitted.
The application contains information about the employer and the employee. Features of a simple work permit:
1. It is printed and certified only by the company seal.
2. When applying for a visa in another country, additional documents must be included (accomodation, guarantee letter, employment contract, etc.).
3. The original must be in the hands of the future employee when applying.
